Facebook, the worlds most popular social media networking site has been criticized in the past for not respecting privacy and for being a play ground for hackers. When Zuckerbergs, Facebook page was hacked it raised more fingers than selling data to marketers. For a while now, Facebook has been silent in its privacy developments and recently it has launched couple of security measures that will make you agree that Facebook is serious.

Two Factor Authentication is a way by which Facebook is trying to check your identification when you try to log into via another device. Its a user discretion feature that will require the user to activate it and Facebook will display code to be typed in. Today Facebook is your social account and it�s more critical than your bank account so it would be sensible to be secured.

Secure browsing via HTTPS is another feature that Facebook has taken seriously. We browse the internet at times from other networks that might not be secure so Facebook takes care of it. Whenever you are browsing third party applications that are non-HTTPS, Facebook will automatically convert your session to HTTPS once you�re finished. This way you are protecting your data and information when you are using non-HTTPS networks or apps.

Family Safety Center gets revamped and enhanced. The site tells dos and donts to parents, teachers, teens etc. Facebook�s social responsibility is commendable here and its quite necessary to understand the technology and how it works. Facebook is not about only adding friends and poking, it�s about what to post and what not, whom to add and whom to block and what settings should be applied. These things are important to know since privacy on internet is an oxymoron if you are not aware of security settings.
