Do You Keep Those Sharing Buttons On Your Blog
Do You Keep Those Sharing Buttons On Your Blog
We always wonder how bloggers shared their content when there was no Facebook and Twitter. We were fortunate to get a reply from an old prolific blogger via twitter. But thankfully we are in an age where its said that only content is not important, sharing is a must too. Content will always be the King but Sharing is the Queen in todays times. Like you, we also love to read lot of blogs, put in our comments and share the content that we find interesting. But we also have found couple of blogs that dont have sharing buttons.
Do we need sharing buttons?
Sharing buttons primarily are placed on a blog for the ease of the users. We place them at the top and at the bottom of the blog so that the user can easily locate them for sharing. You really dont want your readers to take the pain of copying the link and posting it on any social media sites. The other reason is for promoting your article. We have a great content but we may not be reaching to our readers and sharing buttons can help you to bridge the gap. Though this might not be in a fortnight but you need to reach out unless you are an influencer in the blogging world. So we think sharing buttons are cool and essential to use but they should be monitored too.
TIPS:1. Make a point to have your sharing buttons at the top and at the end of your post. Some may debate that whats the need of having at both places or why at the top when the reader is yet to read the blog in the first place. Well, we never know how our readers behave and its better to provide them with options. No harm in going out of the way and helping our readers. But dont repeat the same sharing buttons everywhere. For e.g. you can have the Like, Tweet Button, etc. at the top of your post and at the end you may keep the rest of sharing buttons powered by @addthis.
2. Try to keep the sharing buttons organized as your blog is your digital asset and you dont want your readers to be lost. Whichever way you like to display, care should be taken that they are organized.
3. Make a point to test your sharing buttons so that on click of these buttons you are directed to the right place as you dont want your readers to sort that.
4. If you are adding a Tweet button, dont forget to add your twitter handle to all the posts. This will help you to know who is sharing your content and it also gives you a chance to connect with them.
But do you still think sharing buttons can be avoided on your blog. If you are a new blogger in the arena then sharing buttons is a great way to enhance your reach but if you believe in not using it, then we would love to hear WHY?
